Aim: Through a study of elementary quantum mechanics ato provide the necessary and systematic basis for advanced courses in condensed matter physics and technology. |
Contents: Quantum mechanics: Wave properties of particles, wave function, Schrodinger-equation. Physical variables, operator formalism, eigenvalues, and stationary states. Description of the free particle and the harmonic oscillator. Eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the angular momentum, spherically symmetrical problems, hydrogen atom. Perturbation theory, matrix elements, Fermi's golden rule for tansitions between stationary states. |
