Aim: To continue the program started in 10201 Quantum Mechanics: To develop methods which are necessary for a quantum mechanical treatment of more complex atomic physics and solid state physics systems. |
Contents: Classical and quantum mechanical description of systems in magnetic fields, Pauli theory for electron spin. Many-body systems: Symmetric and antisymmetric states, Slater determinant, second quantizition. Perturbation calculation including WKB approximation theory, symmetry considerations. Density matrices. |
