Aim: To enable the students to establish and work with ordinary differential equation models. To give the students an understanding of reasoning within the frame of probability theory and enable the students to use this in a technical context. Finally to give the neccesary theoretical foundations for courses in Statistics. |
Contents: Ordinal differential equations of first order. Linear differential equations of higher order. Series. Axioms of probability. Conditional probability. Bayes' theorem. Discrete and continuous distributions. Transformation of variables. Simulation. Joint distributions. Conditional distributions. Applications in civil engineering fx: characteristic values, safety factors, reliability index, extreme value statistics, return periods. |
