Aim: To enable the students to understand and apply fundamental principles and computational methods concerning stability and dynamics of elastic beam and frame structures. To give the students an introduction to the theory of plasticity. |
Contents: Stability of columns and vibration of beams, the differential equations, Eulers formula, approximate solutions, the finite element method. Yield conditions. Plastic hinge theory. Bearing capacity of bolted connections. |
