Aim: To enable the students to design and analyse steel, timber and reinforced concrete columns in accordance with the Danish codes of practice.
To enable the students to understand and apply fundamental principles and computational methods concerning elastic and plastic 2-D structural elements. |
Contents: Simply supported steel, timber and reinforced concrete columns.
Plates subjected to plane stress, equilibrium equations, strain - displacement relations, boundary conditions, principles of virtual work. Elastic plates, the finite element method, plastic plates, yield conditions.
