Aim: To give the students a basic knowledge of surveying methods and instruments. To make the students familiar with quality assessments, gross error detection and evaluation of observations. To enable the students to plan and carry out a quality evaluation of a large surveying project. Orientation on Digital Maps and Geographical Information Systems and Global Positioning Systems. A introduction to Photogrammetry. |
Contents: The theory of errors is used to evaluate the quality of measurements utilising redundancy in observations. The least squares adjustment is studied. Geodetic and technical networks are discussed and the use of these networks is related to setting out and surveaing. Various methods for map production and types of maps (topographic, cadastral, technical, digital) are presented. Basic photogrammetry is presented and planning parameters for a photogrammetric mapping project are analysed. Basic elements of Geographical Information Systems and Global Positioning Systems are presented. The use of EDP is an important element of the exercises. |
