Aim: To give students insight in fundamental mathematical ideas and methods and teach students to formulate, analyze and solve problems from different relevant technical areas. Furthermore, enhance students proficiency in implementing mathematical ideas and methods. |
Contents: Matrices. Determinants. Inverse of a matrix. Linear systems of equations.
Gauss elimination and Cramer's rule. Eigenvalues and eigenvectors.
Scalar point functions of 2 and more real variables.
Vector calculus including divergence and curl of a vector field. Line, surface and volume integrals.
Theorems of Gauss and Stokes.
