Aim: To give the students such knowledge about International Standards in Datacommunication that he/she will be able to design interfaces (hardware and software) between different layers in communication equipment.
To give the students such knowledge about LANs (local area networks) that they will be able to choose the right LAN for a given application knowing the strong and weak sides of different LANS. |
Contents: Classical communication protocols in connection oriented and connectionless oriented systems.
The ISO OSI model for communication and the standards for the interfaces between the different layers in the model.
The course also covers different network topologies, routing problems etc. Finally we go through the concepts of different LANs emphasizing each types special properties. |
