Aim: To teach a basic understanding of the structure of the nucleus, and to lay the ground for more advanced studies of nuclear physics. |
Contents: The static properties of the nucleus are treated, i.e. charge, mass, size, spin, and nuclear moments. These properties are seen in relation to the shell model and the liquid drop model of the nucleus. In addition the dynamic properties of the nucleus are investigated. These involve alpha-, beta-, and gamma-decays and rotational and vibrational states of the nucleus. |
