Aim: To demonstrate a number of nuclear physics phenomena and their applications for measurement techniques. To teach the basic techniques of experimental nuclear physics and professional data handling and report making. |
Contents: At present the following exercises constitute the course: The interaction of gamma-radiation with matter, Gas multiplication in a proportional counter, Magnetic beta-spectrograph, Humidity measurement by neutron gauging, Neutron activation analysis, Density determination by backscattering of gamma-radiation, Field measurements in bore holes of the natural radiation in soils and sediments, Geological interpretation of bore hole measurements. |
