Aim: To introduce basic elements of CAD/CAE-systems and to enable the students to formulate and solve minor problems within the field of civil engineering using information technology tools. During the course the students will obtain knowledge on information technology (software, hardware etc), on geometrical modeling, on principles for structuring data in databases, on the principles for the finite element method illustrated by a heat flow problem and on linking CAD-geometry and CAE-calculation. |
Contents: Introduction to information technology (software, hardware, CAD,CAE). Different models for geometry-description and representation. Data-modelling, principles and methods. Database-systems. The finite element method, basics and examples. Linking geometrical designdata and calculation programs. Exercises. |
