Aim: The aim of the course is to present basic principles for selection, design and use of the most common types of chemical engineering equipment and thereby enable the students to perform quantitative experimentation on pilot or production scale equipment |
Contents: Filtration. Heat transfer by conduction, convection and radiation. Heat exchangers. Steam plants. Properties of steam. Use of steam. Evaporation. Continuous mass transfer operations. Gas absorption. Distillation. Air conditioning. Drying. Leaching. Liquid-liquid extraction. For each topic the course covers the following: An explanation of physical apparatusses and their function. - The mathematical model of the operation is developped. |
