Aim: The aim of the course is further development of those subjects dealt with in 91322, D6732 and D6737, with emphasis on modern synthetic and analytic methods. The course is taken simultaneously with the corresponding laboratory course D6749.
Contents: Reaction types, such as oxidation, hydride reduction, catalytic hydrogenation, hydroboration, Diels-Alder cycloaddition, enamine reactions, the Wittig reaction, carbene reactions, ethynylation, structural isomerizations, etc. Selected aspects of carbohydrate chemistry. Aromatic heterocyclic chemistry. Analytic methods, including chemical, physical and spectroscopic principles. Systematic literature search.
