| Aim: he aim of the course is to give knowledge of some generally used methods for measuring and analysing material properties, to practise skill in reporting and evaluating experimental results and to support the theoretical courses. |
Contents: Production of plastic specimens (injection moulding of thermoplastics, reinforcing of coldsetting plastics and production of foams). Measuring of mechanical properties of plastic specimens (testing of flexural, tensile, compression and impact properties, relaxation and creep). Metallographic examinations. Preparation, identification, description and evaluation of microstructures a.o. by use of phase diagrams. Failure analysis of damaged metal components. Heat treatments and mechanical testing of steel. Evaluation of properties and microstructure in relation to TTT-diagram.
