Danish title: Eksamensprojekt, designprojekt

Remarks: The project is presentated as a written report and orally through a 20 minutes lecture.

Aim: The aims of the course are to teach the students integrated application of their knowledge in chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering and economy for the solution of a design or performance problem within a chemical or biochemical production plant or a part thereof.
Contents: The content of the course may be as follows:
1) Definition of the problem and selection of the process.
2) Material and energy balances. Flow sheets.
3) Selection of materials of construction.
4) Project planning.
5) Economy: Fixed and working capital, annual costs, cost optimization, financing.
6) Risk and safety analyses.
7) Pollution problems. Environmental laws and regulations.
8) Occupational safety and health, social aspects.
9) Detailed discussion of for instance one or more of the following items:
P & I diagrams. Instrumentation. Reaction vessel design. Heat exhangers. Pumps and compressors. Plant economy. Plant organization. Environmental and pollution problems. Working environment.
