Aim: To introduce the basic tools for Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and give the foundation for advanced courses in GIS.
Contents: Digital maps, topographical maps, maps for land registration and the co-ordinate systems UTM and System 34. Databases, relational databases, queries in SQL, explorative analysis of data, measures for spatial continuity, spatial interpolation. Visualisation, geometrical models and GIS data, GIS tools. Network and topology, dynamic segmentation, GIS in traffic planning, geological databases and maps.
