Aim: The purpose og this course is to give the participants the ability to analyze and visualize data by modern computer graphics methods. The course also treats how to make illustrations for reports, multimedia presentations and conference contributions. This could be single illustrations or animation sequences. |
Contents: This course gives the attendee the ability to analyze and visualize data by modern computer graphics methods. First the course will present methods for visualizing different data models and different classes og data such as 3D fields, fields on unstructured grids and multivariate data sets. This will provide the fundamental concepts and present specific tools and techniques for visualizing those data domains. For instance volume rendering based on scan line - or ray tracing - techniques is used to visualize inhomogeneity in materials and animation techniques is used to illustrate development over time. Actual tools like SGI Explorer, Inventor and Performer will be used to illustrate the methods. Small additions to such standard software is also developed. Thus the attendee must have some previous programming experience and knowledge of computer graphics.
Visualizing for different media and purposes is also considered; scientific articles, ph.d. thesis, presentation at conferences (slides, video, CD-ROM, WWW). |
