Aim: To enable the participants to explain and to use in practice the most important physical properties of soils. To explain and to use in practice the most important constructive solutions to foundation problems. To carry out a simple geotechnical investigation. |
Contents: Basic soil properties. Strength and deformation properties relevant to bearing capacities and settlement of buildings. Spread footings and pile foundations.
Classification tests on soils. Measurements of strength and deformation properties in the laboratory. |
