| Aim: To give the students a comprehensive knowledge of general genetics, microbial genetics, and physiology. |
| Contents: The molecular characteristics of the genetic material; recombination; replication; mutation; RNA and protein synthesis. Chromosome structure of prokaryotes, eukaryotes, and viruses. Transfer of genetic material (transduction, transformation, conjugation, fusion); in vitro gene manipulation. Mitosis; meiosis; chromosome defects; the Mendelian rules and maternal inheritance. The functional relation between genes; regulation of gene activity. |
