Aim: To introduce the students to mathematical modelling through:
(a) formulation of a model of a physical/technical problem and solve the equation using a computer,
(b) evaluation of the models based on calonlated solutions to the model equation. |
Contents: Lectures on the programming languages FORTRAN or C and possibly PROFIL including the use of programming systems, e.g. MATLAB. Solution of a number of problems by groups of 2-3 students, one problem for each group. Each group must formulate a model, program and solve the problem and present the results using state of the art computer graphics. Each group documents its work in a report. |
