Aim: To give the students the ability to solve larger operational research problems using linear programming. This means that the students should be able to formulate a linear optimization model, use standard program GAMS on IMM's HP-9000 machine to solve the model, evaluate alternatives, and describe results and conclusions in a report. Since the available standard programs for linear programming are fairly similar, the obtained knowledge is not strictly limited to the program used here. |
Contents: The Theoretical background from 04030 Introduction to Operational Research is supplemented with a discussion of standard programs for formulation and solution of linear programming models, and various standard linear programming partial models are discussed using examples. Then most of the time is used for independent work, solving a larger problem and writing a report. |
