Aim: To enable the students to A) Analyse and evaluate processes and materials in casting by experimental and theoretical methods. B) Develop and apply computer based tools for numerical simulation of casting processes. |
Contents: Lectures: A) Numerical methods for simulation of casting processes, control volume based finite differnce methods, explicit and implicit algorithms, analytical solutions, Riemann-temperature, algorithms for the release of latent heat. B) Methods for analysing casting and moulding processes. Metal treatment. Cast-iron.
Exercises: A) Programming of algorithms for simulation of temperatures during solidification. B) Experimental work. C) Evaluation of experimental and calculated results. |
