| Aim: To give the fundamental principles of physical metallurgy, and to show how the application of the principles leads to a clearer understanding of many technologically important metallurgical phenomena related to plastic deformation, work hardening, creep, fracture, precipitation hardening, quenching, and annealing. |
| Contents: The structure of alloys. Diffusion. Dislocations and plasticity of crystals. Deformation of metals and alloys. Solidification. Diffusional and diffusionless transformations in solids. |
