Aim: To enable students to:
- explain the tasks and content of quality management.
- use and evaluate basic methods and techniques of quality management.
- analyze and evaluate total quality management of an enterprise from different points of view.
- develop, evaluate and participate in implementing solutions to specific quality management tasks.
Contents: Quality management in industrial firms from different points of view: product liability, organizational (especially interdepartmental co-operation), external quality system requirements and human resources, the international developments in quality system requirements, ISO 9000 certification. Practical examples of quality management in product development as well as in production and marketing. Methods and techniques, e.g. product reliability methods, sampling plans, process control etc. Development and design of quality management systems by quality systems projects as an interdepartmental co-operation between the different organizational functions in the enterprise. Further developing quality management, quality award models (European Quality Award etc.), selfevaluation, benchmarking. Quality system documentation, quality manuals. Audit and evaluation of quality management systems. Organizing for quality management. Quality reporting, technique and economy. Quality management in services industries. Perspectives.
