Aim: To enable students to:
- describe and analyze the production and inventory problems of an enterprise.
- evaluate and use relevant principles, methods, and models for solving these problems.
- estimate the suitability of different computerized production and inventory control systems for a specific enterprise.
- participate in the construction, implementation and maintenance of computerized systems for the above mentioned tasks and to participate in the evaluation of the technical, financial, human and organizational consequences of these systems.
Contents: Production and inventory management problems and their relationhips to other management problems of the enterprise. General framework for production management. Concepts and principles for production control, e.g., MRP, Kanban, JIT, and OPT. Methods and models for the structure of inventories, materials and capacity planning, job shop control etc. Development, implementation and maintenance of computer systems for production planning and control.
