Aim: To provide the student with the theoretical background which is necessary to assess and calculate flows around ships and other floating structures and around propellers. |
Contents: The flows around ships are examined by use of mathematical models. These models are applied to the flow around the ship travelling in calm water, including the ship waves and the propeller flow. Ship motions and sea loads are dealt with, partly by the hydrodynamics of slender bodies, where also manoeuvring will be briefly treated. |
