Aim: To enable the students to use latest rational methods for designing floating structures, such as ships and drilling rigs.
Contents: Part A: Wave loads on floating structures including, hydrodynamic loads, statistical analysis of waves and slamming.
Part B: Statistical analysis of beam structures, including stress analysis of thin-walled beams. Part C: Vibrations of hull beams, coupled vibrations of beam structures. Part D: Safety assessments, including the partial safety factor method, probability of failure, design procedures, material data.
