Aim: (1) to obtain a good understanding of physical flow and transport processes in heterogeneous porous media and (2) to develop and apply numerical codes for flow and transport. |
Contents: Stationary and non-stationary flow, non-stationary flow to wells, streamfunctions, numerical methods for solving groundwater flow equations and development and testing of two-dimensional models based on the head and stream function formulations, geological heterogeneity, introduction to geostatistics, mechanisms for transport of dissolved solutes, advection and dispersion, introduction to stochastic dispersion, simple retardation and degradation, numerical methods for solving the solute transport equation and development and testing of a one-dimensional model, density-dependent flow and mixing. |
