Aim: To enable the students to draft-project hydraulic structures within the fields of ports and harbour structures.
Contents: Wave motion in harbours. Ships and ship manoeuvres. Planning and lay-out of ports (traffic terminals, marinas). Harbour structures: Structural design of quay wall and pier structures with matching loads (surface loads, water pressure, wave forces, ship forces, etc.). Breakwater structures. Ice engineering: Ice strength, ice forces on structures. Economic evaluation methods.
