Aim: The aim is 1) that the participants will obtain a basic understanding of the relation between technology and society, especially related to chemistry, and 2) that the participants obtain knowledge of fundamental characteristics of engineering work, as well as the needed requirements of qualifications, especially related to chemistry. |
Contents: The course is divided in two parts. In the first part concepts of technology, of driving forces behind technological development, and the interaction between society, societal actors, and technology are introduced. The case used is Cleaner Technology. In the second part the historical development of the professiion of engineers, the specific characteristics of engineering work, and the requirements of qualifications is introduced. |
