Aim: To provide a basic introduction to development theory and various conceptual models which are used in connection with international aid. Moreover, to enable students to utilize these theories in analysis of the role of cultural, social and economic factors in the development process. |
Contents: This couse introduces engineering students to typical problems and issues in international development aid, and during work in developing countries, Theories are examined in lectures and seminars which deal with issues such as: international division of work and industrialization strategies, agriculture and population policy, and political and economic systems in developing countries. Moreover, the course examines key issues in development and Danish aid through audio-visual presentations, guest lectures and panel debate involving representatives from various organizations active in Danish development aid. |
