Aim: To provide the students knowledge of 1) the conditions and opportunities for companies to manage problems related to environment and working environment, 2) analysis, planning and management of environment and working environment and 3) the interaction between the company and authorities, customers, local community and others in relation to management of environment and working environment.
Contents: Formalized systems and other approaches to the management of environment and working environment. Based on organization theory and sociology of technology the systems and approaches are evaluated in relation to prerequisites, opportunities and limitations for reaching the goals. The roles of management and employee participation in the management of environment and working environment are discussed, based on organization theory and theory on learning processes.
Interaction between company and local authorities, especially the effects of different inspection strategies. The role of engineers in the management of environment and working environment. Interaction between environment and working environment at companies and in relation to the authorities.
