Aim: This course introduces the basic concepts of optoelectronics and optoelectronic systems. The student will learn the physical principles of how various light sources, detectors, and optoelectronic systems work. On the basis of these, the student will be able to solve simpler problems concerning emission, transmission, and detection of light in order to demonstrate the solution of practical problems involving the application of different optoelectronic components. |
Contents: 1)Light Transmission: in crystals and waveguides. 2)Light generation: light emitting diodes and lasers. 3)Detection of light: Detectors, signal processing and noise. 4)Optoelectronic systems: optical fiber communication, displays, imaging systems, light modulators, and integrated optics. 5)Fabrication technology. |
