Aim: To give a theoretical and practical knowledge of the synthesis and reactions of organic chemical compounds. To train the ability to account for electronic flow and reaction mechanisms in a systematic manner. |
Contents: The bonding and stereochemistry of carbon. Preparation, reactivity and properties of simple organic compounds is treated systematized according to functional groups (alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alkyl halides, alcohols, ethers, aromatics, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and derivatives, amines, phenols and aryl halides). Simple reaction mechanisms. Reactive intermediates (radicals, carbocations, carbanions). |
