 | | | Aim: To give the basic principles of experimental work with biological materials (e.g. tissue, cells and biomolecules). The intention with the course is to support and animate the theoretical course 24001 | | Contents: The chemical composition of the cell: Physical chemical characterisation of biomolecules (DNA, RNA, protein, lipid, carbohydrate). Cellular metabolism: Metabolic processes and their regulation; assays of enzyme reactions and effects of toxic substances (enzyme kinetics and inhibition).
Fundamental and basic biological techniques: Cell growth etc. cell: microscopy of bacteria, yeast, fungi, plant- and animal cells, staining technicques mitosis, meiosis, regulation of gene expression.
