| Aim: To give the students necessary knowledge of technical subjects¿literary tools and literature search techniques to enable them to perform literature search, and to communicate with the technical scientific library or documentation centre about more complicated searching. |
| Contents: Publication types of the technical literature. The public library service system. Library catalogue as search tool. Searching in the ALIS-system. General, general-technical and multidisciplinary encyclopedia, handbooks and other works of reference. Index of scientific magazines and abstract journals. Preparing bibliographies. Patent protection and licences. Patents and patterns as source of information. Computer based literature search. Preparing search profiles and potentially trial runs. Literary tools of the subject. |
