Aim: To train students in a rational approach to development carried out by a group. |
Contents: The project starts in the middle of the 14-week period. The students are divided into groups. Each group chooses an exercise (see below). The group formulates a detailed specification and makes a plan for contents and time schedule. The written specification, plan, and time schedule are to be approved before the beginning of the 3-week period. During the 3-week period, the construction and testing are carried out and the final report is written. During the course each group builds a simple digital circuit. Examples are:
- Number sender. Dialing from a telephone to one of a set of numbers.
- Telephone answering machine with information on the number of calls.
- Telephone answering machine with reception of calling number.
- Encoder/decoder for error-correcting code. |
