Aim: To enable the student to analyse and design cablebased transmission channels from a purely transmission technical point of view. Furthermore, to give an overview of transmission methods as they are in fact used in telecommunication networks. |
Contents: Metallic transmission lines in the frequency and time domain. Connection of lines and other equipment. Source signals in ordinary telecommunication networks, their processing and transmission channel requirements. Baseband transmission of digital signals (signal shaping, line coding, ISDN subscriber line). Multiplex systems. Description of both the analogue and digital telecommunication network, including standards for connection. |
