Aim: Information technology is increasingly applied in networks thereby supporting the development of new organisation forms, fx. networked firms and "virtual organisations". The purpose is to introduce to the students the theories of new organisation forms thus enabling them to analyse the type of information needed in these organisations and to assess experience with application of IT. |
Contents: New organisation forms: The most important theories of new organisation forms are presented and discussed.
IT and interorganisational relations: IT is increasingly applied to communication between organisations thereby setting new demands for IT planning in the organisations and also setting demands to whether the organisations can manage systems development projects in cooperation with other organisations. Examples: Interorganisational project planning, interorganisational product development.
Use of networked systems in the individual organisations: IT is also applied in communication within the organisation enabling the integration of geographically wide-spread activities which requires a total planning of organisation, integrated production and distribution systems
IT-management: Introduction of the principal elements in planning and management of the application of IT in the organisation. |
