Aim: The increasingly global nature of business and the use of networked information technology make it necessary to develop new ideas and models for open information and communication systems. Technical standards for electronic documents, multimedia and network protocols are developed and create a basis for a wealth of new applications. Enterprises have to adopt to the new technology and vice versa in a complex interplay. The purpose of the course is to give the students a deeper understanding of the problems of developing and using this kind of systems. Students are presumed to have a basic knowledge of theories and methods of information systems development and understanding. |
Contents: Theories of electronic commerce, electronic hierarchies and electronic networks are discussed and related to theories of interorganisational information systems development. Topics are electronic commerce, EDI, models of co-ordination, and interorganisational relations. |
