Aim: - calculate particle orbits, local pressure and energy in a linear wave.
- describe a sea state using a standard wave energy spectrum.
- calculate prognosis for wave heights in steady and nonsteady conditions.
- calculate prognosis for linear response of ships using wave energy spectrum
and transfer function in steady and nonsteady conditions.
- interpret results from model tests in waves and from computerprogams based on strip theory.
- calculate natural frequencies for ship hulls and for plates and panels.
- evaluate risk of vibrations on ships.
- know about inconveniences from vibrations. |
Contents: The velocity potential, principle of superposition, Pierson-Moskowitz and JONSWAP wave spectrum, Rayleigh - and Weibull probability density function, strip theory, natural frequencies, hull vibration, local vibrations, added mass, source of vibrations, criteria on acceptable vibrations. |
