Aim: To make the students familiar with the mathematical models used for design and analysis of fluid machinery such as pumps, fans, compressors and turbines. |
Contents: The course deals with fundamental principles such as conservation of energy, Euler¿s turbine equation, velocity diagrams, dimensional analysis and the influence of compressibility. Further, general subjects from Fluid Mechanics will be treated which influences the characteristics of a fluid machinery. This includes: Boundary layers, theory of blade cascades, caviation and secondary flow and three dimensional effects. |
