Aim: To provide the students with the fundamental knowledge and skill for designing and evaluating optical systems for information transfer.
Contents: Design of simple optical systems including introduction to waveaberrations and computer software for optical design and optimization. Frequency analysis of optical imaging systems and optical transfer function. The theory is illustrated by designing or analyzing selected systems.
