Aim: To enable the student to plan, design and analyse urban water distribution and drainage systems, using both simple hand calculations and professional computer software, and to assess the environmental problems associated with the systems. |
Contents: Amount and variation of water consumption, prognoses, wells and water works. Planning and design of pumping installations, reservoirs and distribution networks. Analysis of pressure levels. Amount and variation of sewage and precipitation, structure of urban drainage systems, rainfall-runoff processes. Planning and design of drainage networks, including pumping stations, overflow structures and detention basins. Analysis of surchage/flooding and pollution during rain storms, and local handling of stormwater. |
