| Aim: To enable the student to choose and design a suitable traditional foundation structure, taking all relevant design criteria into consideration. Also to assess whether information obtained during construction will require changes in the design. |
| Contents: Seepage, shallow foundations, piled foundations, retaining walls, sheet pile walls, stability of cuttings, dewatering schemes. |
