Remarks: Every group will make 3 experimental investigations each of one weeks duration inclusive report writing. The experiments will take place at Department of Biotechnology and Department of Chemical Engineering. |

Aim: To extend the students understanding of making solutions of technical or chemical problems by exercises and calculations. The course is of considerable value for further studies at IBT and KT. |
Contents: The following labs are offered (3 are to be chosen by each student): IBT: 1) aeration of fermentors, 2) Decantation centrifuge, 3) Fermentation in 100 l pilot plant, 4) Flash sterilization, 5) Drying of consumables. KT: 1) Vapor-liquid equilibria, 2) Viscosity of Newtonian and non-Newtonian liquids, 3) Gas-liquid separation in plate column, 4) Simulation of a chemical process, 5) Emulsion polymerization, 6) Ultrafiltration, 7) Pervaporation, 8) Electrodialysis. |
