Aim: The aim of the course is to provide the student with thorough knowledge as well as practical skills in those parts of mathematics that are useful in chemical engineering and to provide the student with a conceptual understanding of mathematics and with some skills in mathematical reasoning. |
Contents: Elementary functions of one variable, their derivatives and integrals. Limits, L'Hospital's rule, Taylor's theorem. Complex numbers. Elementary differential equations. Numerical methods for integration and for differential equations.
Elementary linear algebra including eigenvalues and eigenvectors.The computer algebra program Maple. |
