Aim: To acquire a knowledge of radionuclides which enables the student to plan and carry through an experiment involving radioactive material (tracers). |
Contents: Nuclear structure and decay modes, ionizing radiation and its interaction with matter. Radiation detectors, B- and y-spectroscopy. Neutron activation analysis. Radiation protection.
Experiments: General problems, dead-time, geometry, backscattering. Ion exchange. Liquid scintillation counting. Isotope dilution analysis. Determination of solubility product. Neutron activation and y-spectroscopy. Radiochromatography. Protection and safety. |
