Aim: To give the participating students a sense of the scale and character of urban change, especially related the long term perspective of bringing about a sustainable economic, ecological and social urban life. |
Contents: The theme of the course is the interaction between the urban structure and its transport provision. Following subjects will be briefly exposd: the reasons for urban changes; potentials and barriers for an increasing radicality of change; persons and goods movements and conflicts arrising from the transport. The final report consists of three parts, related to; - the analysis of an urban catchment area of a railstation; - consequences of a radical change in urban density on the transport provision and the wider physical implication of this increase in density. The course is part of an introduction to the planning and building department of the Technical University. |
