Aim: To enable the participants - on the basis of a more advanced knowledge in soil strength and deformation characteristic to explain and to use simple mathematical models describing elastic, elastic plastic, and purely plastic behaviour of soil. - to understand the basis of, and to use (with computers) numerical methods to solve deformation and failure problems for pile foundations and for soil continua. |
Contents: Constitutive equations for soils. Deformation problems, including consolidation, in soils. Finite element formulation. Advanced theory for pile foundations. Theory of plasticity for undrained clay and for sand. |
